Bascule Structure

Description

The bascule structure architecture of the Siuslaw River Bridge spans the Siuslaw River along the end of the central coastline of Oregon. Designed by Conde McCullough, built by the Mercer-Fraser Company of Eureka, California, and funded by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works, the bridge opened in 1936 expanding access to the southern coastline.
